Hidden on the Harbour sits quietly on Seaham’s waterfront, blending the casual charm of a café with the inviting buzz of a bar. Its location on North Terrace makes it an easy stop for locals and visitors wandering the seafront, whether they’re setting out for a beach day or winding down after a coastal walk.

The interior feels surprisingly spacious given its modest exterior, with tasteful decor that strikes a balance between relaxed and smart. This makes it fit comfortably for a morning coffee, a casual breakfast, or an early evening drink. Friendly and approachable staff add to the welcoming vibe, often remembered for attentive yet unhurried service.

Breakfast options like the sausage and egg or bacon and egg sandwiches are straightforward and satisfying, especially for those starting a day out in Seaham. For a more substantial bite, the café/bar’s burger selection offers solid, uncomplicated choices like the American Classic and BBQ Ranch burgers. Pair these with one of their well-crafted hot drinks — mochas and deluxe hot chocolates stand out as pleasant indulgences.

The café doubles as a spot to relax with friends or family, and it’s dog-friendly, which fits the active, outdoor lifestyle many locals enjoy. Afternoon tea is another popular feature here, often delivered with plenty of cakes and sweet treats that invite slow conversations. There’s a clear nod to comfort and enjoyment rather than formality in these offerings — ideal for groups looking for a light celebration or a relaxed catch-up.

Many visitors appreciate the place for its blend of daytime warmth and early evening atmosphere, avoiding the busier, louder bar scenes but still offering a vibrant social setting. The outdoor views towards the harbour set a quiet backdrop, especially on clearer days when you can feel the sea breeze. This makes it less a rush-through stop and more a place to linger, whether with a cup of coffee in the morning or a drink as the sun sets.

Fantastic. Gorgeous decor, really smart inside and decevingly huge inside. Situated on the seafront. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and professional. We had a duck pizza and it was nice. Another fantastic addition to Seaham Harbour !

Popped in for breakfast as we looked for dog friendly places to eat before we visited Seaham. Food was great, drinks were good, service was good and reasonable prices.

We pre booked afternoon tea for 6 and I can definitely say, there was plenty of food available, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the only thing I would change is the amount of sponge cakes, we had cake wedges of victoria, chocolate, carrot and one with pink icing, maybe change some for meringues, traybakes like rocky Road, millionaires shortbread or strawberry shortcake or even some lemon, coffee or coconut cupcakes. The sandwiches were lovely as was the quiche but I found the corn beef pie was a bit tasteless. All in all I would say good value for the money £19.99 each paid in advance
